Outreach
Outreach: (Seva) at The Center for Yoga – Yoga into the World
What is seva? Seva’s literal translation means, “selfless service”. According to yogi Bhajan, “You are here to serve, here to lift, here to grace, here to give hope and action, to give the very deep love of your soul to all those who are in need.”
Our mission statement at The Center For Yoga is “Fellowship and community through yoga”, which reflects our commitment to seva, or outreach. Here at TCFYoga, we love giving back to our community, students and friends.
For 25+ years, The Center For Yoga has reached out to various organizations to teach yoga and raise money and awareness through various classes, serving food, workshops, and service – and we have had a lot of fun doing it!
TCFYoga has partnered up with nationally recognized organizations such as St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Boys and Girls Club of America, Green Pets America, and as well as individually recognized Trusts, such as the “Natalie’s Circle of Love Foundation”. We have helped raise money for students in need and have offered scholarships to local students for classes and the RYT-200 teacher training program. We have collected Christmas boxes for our soldiers overseas, blankets for foster pets, and food for the homeless. Our Teacher Training RYT-500 graduating class created a cook book of yoga and health related recipes to help fund a family member undergoing cancer treatment.
TCFYoga’s teacher and students also participated in Kennesaw State University’s Guinness Book of World Records event for the “Worlds Largest Peace Sign”.
It is our great privilege to reach out to you and to your organization too. If you have any special needs or know anyone who could benefit from our help, please contact Othene at (770) 633-3286
